This story started with attraction at first glance and now has led all the way to the Garden Theater for their first dance. In 2008, Anthony and Victoria met at Michigan State University. Victoria’s weekly beer pong league needed more teams and a mutual friend invited Anthony to join. Anthony only knew a few people, but when Victoria walked through the apartment door, his eyes perked up and he quickly asked his friend “who is that?” They were quick to become friends bonding over mutual interests of music, sports, and especially dancing. However, it took them a while to realize maybe they were more than just friends. Perhaps a theme of the relationship – ‘it takes us some time to take the next step.’ It wasn’t until February 14, 2012, that Anthony finally asked Victoria out on a first official date. He surprised her with a trip to Joe Louis Arena to see the Detroit Red Wings play. (Victoria’s note: A perfect idea for a first date) The Red Wings ended up winning that game and set the NHL record for most consecutive home wins (21). A truly historic night for all involved. Since then, Anthony and Victoria have experienced so much. Moving in together, dog parents to Yakeley, teammates, long distance, family vacations, and most recently home ownership. On their first Christmas together, Anthony bought Victoria a snowflake ornament and said, “I plan on buying you a new and unique snowflake each Christmas. That way, sometime in our future we will have a tree filled only with our snowflakes.” After years of being a part of each other’s lives, they took the next step. Anthony asked Victoria to marry him on December 21, 2022 (Winter Solstice). Even though she doesn’t remember all the details - because she was overwhelmed by emotion - Victoria said, “YES!” Anthony proposed in their favorite room of their house surrounded by hundreds of candles and snowflakes. The next chapter of their lives brings them back to Detroit, where they will celebrate with friends and family. They hope you can join them to eat, drink, and most importantly -- dance.
