Really delicious little lounge with adventurous small plates and exciting drinks, including some mocktail options. Great ambience. Their sister restaurant Tavern 1888 serves a wonderful full meal while Phatsy's menu is more a variety of shareable apps.
Ferndale is historic Victorian town with a small picturesque downtown. There is shopping, a barbecue counter, and a cool coffee spot called Mind's Eye that also houses photo processing and a blacksmithing workshop. The Jim Carrey movie "The Majestic" was filmed in Ferndale and it has been featured in other films.
Near the ceremony site is a great flat walking area for those looking to see more of the great Redwood forests. This one is extra cool because parts of Star Wars, specifically some scenes of Endor with the Ewoks, were filmed in this area.
The Eel River runs through Scotia and up to Eureka. Van Duzen River and a number of small creeks split off of it. There are swimming holes along it- in some places you can just pull your car over, climb down the bank and get in. Swimming here is so beautiful.
