How We Met

An Unlikely Pair- August 2017

She says... In an attempt to make the summer hours go by faster, a girl friend of mine suggested I get a Tinder to scroll through. We matched and I thought nothing of it, it was just another cute boy. Except this one caught my attention with his pick up line. "It must be my lucky day." Oh boy, another cheesy line. I didn't usually answer messages but I thought "I'll just humor him..." "Why is that?" "Because I got Chick-Fil-A and I matched with a cutie." ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ He says... Little did she know I was too broke to afford Chick-fil-a, I just needed another reason it was a good day (other than matching on Tinder with an angel). So while the first thing I ever told her may have been a lie, I somehow conned her into having a conversation with me... and the conversation never ended.

The Proposal

It worked out perfectly - July 2018

She says... After keeping it a secret for weeks, I let the cat out of the bag. "No we can't do that tomorrow, we have the photo shoot!" Oh no. I let it slip. He had always wanted to take couples pictures (it's his thing, not mine) and I wanted to surprise him with a session for his birthday. I was bummed, but at least he didn't know the extent of the surprise. The next day, we got dressed all fancy and headed to the photo shoot site. I had to convince him that the photographer wasn't there yet (good thing there was no one around) and we walked around a little. When I knew everything was in place, I got down on one knee with a watermelon flavored Ring Pop, "I can't do this anymore!! You're the man of my dreams. No, this isn't a real proposal, but I love you and I want you to know that I'm in this for the long run. I promise you..." ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ He says... Well shoot, she's stealing my thunder. I was planning on proposing the next weekend during a trip to San Diego, but I was afraid she was becoming suspicious, so I brought the ring with me to the photo shoot. I was just hoping I would find a good time to get on one knee, since the photographer wasn't in on it. Within 5 minutes of us being there, she somehow ended up on one knee in front of me. I realized this was the perfect opportunity to turn her heartfelt joke into a moment that will last a lifetime. Amidst the commotions of introductions with the photographer after her "proposal", I quickly flashed him the ring to let him know he needed to turn the camera back on. While she was turned around, I dropped to a knee... "It didn't take long for me to know I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, everything since then has just been me trying to convince you of the same. I know I finally convinced you... so will you marry me?" (p.s. she said yes, that's why you're reading this)
