On September 5th, 2024, Zach’s birthday, we set out on a kayak adventure. I wanted the day to be all about him, but he had a surprise of his own. After a long morning of driving and picking up our kayaks, we launched toward our first stop: “Tatge Island”, a place Zach had went often growing up. Although he was a bit disappointed to find it overgrown with mangroves, we didn’t let that ruin our day. We went to our next destination, Midnight Pass. When we arrived, we were thrilled to discover we had the whole beach to ourselves… or so we thought. As we enjoyed the views, Zach and I danced in the sand to a song called “Biblical.” Then, in a moment I’ll never forget, he began to pray over us and our future. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee. Overflowing with emotion, I dropped to the ground with him, tears streaming as we hugged and cried. Of course, I said yes. Suddenly, out from behind the grass, my mom and best friend Kaylen came running toward us, camera in hand. They had been secretly filming the entire proposal, expertly hidden in the background. Total pros at camouflage! We popped champagne and celebrated one of the most unforgettable, joy-filled moments of my life.
