Although neither of us remember the first time we actually met (sometime in 2006)... we both remember the Spring of 2008. When I, an awkward 13 year old girl, had a crush on a highschool baseball player named Josh. Fast forward a couple months to Summer 2008, summer before my freshman year in highschool, it was the first time we "hung out" outside of a school function with a group of friends. It was the fourth of July; We all watched fireworks together, and I don't think we spoke a word to each other (haha). I was just an upcoming freshman with a big crush, knowing it would never work. He graduated, I went throughout highschool, and then I later graduated. Flash forward to 2016, the Fourth of July. Josh passed me in Snellville. He says I didn't wave back (but I promise I did). A few months later, we reconnected on social media. Our first date we met up at a country concert, and we've been inseparable since. 2017 Fourth of July, we were watching the fireworks in the same place we had watched them 9 years previous. BUT this time, as boyfriend and girlfriend. It really has been full circle! Who knew 11 years later we’d be getting married?!
The first weekend in May of 2018, Josh and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to visit my sister in Florida. We left right when we both got off work on Friday, or so I thought. Josh actually bought my ring & asked for my Dad’s permission that day! That next day was Cinco de Mayo. We enjoyed one of my favorite seaside restaurants, Taco bar, & spent the entire day on the beach. When we finally came back to the house, water logged & drained from the sun, Josh was PERSISTANT that we had to go eat dinner on the beach. After an hour of him telling me to get ready, we headed to a rooftop beach restaurant, Bud & Alleys (Which ended up being packed). So we decided to get some drinks & appetizers to enjoy on the beach. I had a towel in my car that we could sit on (All of the chairs had been picked up), & I insisted that we needed it to sit on it while we ate ( 😂Sorry babe, that just goes to show I had absolutely NO idea). Keep in mind the sun is setting. Josh RAN to my car which was atleast a half a mile away, and back. We went down on the beach, I set up the towel & our food. I noticed Josh was looking at me, so naturally I looked back up at him. He said, “I love you..” I said “I love you too!” (I looked back at the food, I thought he was just being sweet). Then he asked me, “Do you want to dance?” I was STILL clueless. To which my response was, “Right now? Or do you want to eat first?” “Should I play music?” His said, “Just stand up.” & that is when I knew, I could tell by the look on his face. I immediately started to cry because I honestly couldn’t believe it. I was so so surprised! After the fact I noticed my sister was taking pictures of it on the beach. Our engagement was spontaneous, and I love that it was just the two of us. Hindsight, all the details make for a hilarious story. That’s just us though, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 😊 We were undeniably made for each other, and I'm so excited for the plan God has for our lives together!
