We met while both solo backpacking through New Zealand. Sam had been living in Queenstown, New Zealand for 6 months prior to Kacie arriving. We met in the T.V. room of the Hostel that Sam was living in and Kacie was staying in. During the presidential election of 2016 Kacie suggested that everyone, who were strangers may we add, join her at the bar. Sam was one of those stangers. After getting a drink together that night Sam invited Kacie to hang-out the next day, and the rest is what became our favorite love story.
From the moment we fell in love in Queenstown we knew that we wanted to get married in the place where we met. Sam had proposed...finally, in January 2020. We set a date for the wedding for April 2020 then COVID happened in March 2020 which changed everything. We had to make the hard decision to finally leave the place we were fortunate to call home but first a wedding was a must! We rescheduled our wedding for May 2020 in hopes restrictions would lift. They lifted restrictions right before our wedding and we were able to have a beautiful intimate wedding on May 30th, 2020. It was one of the best days of our lives with 30 of our closest friends and chosen family. Unfortunately, because of COVID our families and friends from overseas weren't able to make their way to New Zealand for the big day but, they were all there on Zoom to watch from afar. We were married on the side of the beautiful mountains over looking Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, New Zealand. Our dinner was pizza and drinks were BYOB. Our talented friends showed off their skills by doing all our florals, Kacie's hair and make up, decorating, and DJ-ing. Our reception was at one of our favorite little boutique bars which turned into the most fun dance and Karaoke party ever! Our wedding details were planned in 2 weeks and to this day has been one of our favorite days of our lives.
