Taylor and Mikey met in 2017 while attending the University of Iowa dental school. As fate would hand it, the two were paired together for nearly every clinical exercise their first year due to having names so close in the alphabet. From flossing one another’s teeth for the first time, to shakily administering 10 different anesthetic injections on each other, the two built a strong trust very early on. The “love” connection did not start for another year into their dental school training. Mikey mustered up the courage of asking the newly single Taylor on a date 2 days after Valentine’s Day in which she cautiously accepted. From then on, the two were inseparable. Late night cramming for exams, Iowa Hawkeye tailgates, summers at cabins in Michigan and Twin lakes; the remaining 3 years in dental school flew by with each other by their side. In 2021, Mikey found out that he matched with Texas A&M’s (Baylor) Orthodontic residency program in Dallas. He called Taylor after opening the email and simply said “We’re moving to Dallas.” Nervousness turned to excitement as the two began figuring out their new lives in Texas. Taylor found a stellar job working in Fort Worth as a General Dentist for Ballard Family Dentistry and the two settled in to a condo in Downtown Dallas. A year went by enjoying Dallas together and Mikey knew it was time to pop the question. They had been planning a trip to Michigan for a while now and he knew that would be the perfect place to bend the knee. At a beautiful vineyard in Northern Michigan, as the two were walking to an overlook point Taylor turned to Mikey and said “I’m mad at you, this would’ve been a perfect place for you to propose.” Moments later with a grin on his face Mikey asked that fateful question.
