Our story dates back to 2005, long before we became an item in 2016. We have the one and only Clairemont High School to thank for the beginning of our love story... High school was a weird time, as I'm sure it was for most of you. Travis and I had mutual friends, but never really hung out at school. He hung out with the surfer boys and I hung out with the preppy girls. Our groups collided only at house parties and we rarely veered from our friend groups. It wasn't until one party shortly after high school ended, that we began "talking" and hanging out together for a couple of months. This was short-lived, as most teenage flings are, and we went our separate ways. TEN YEARS LATER: ....we are now in 2016 and have social media to thank for our relationship. I won't go into too many details, but let's just say I saw Travis on my Instagram timeline a few too many times, and I was a little curious about what that cutie had been up to the past ten years. It took a few failed plans (on my behalf - oopsie, I was playing hard to get hehe) before we had our first date. We both felt that instant connection and knew then that we weren't going to let each other go. Over the past four years we've traveled, moved, adopted a fur child and so much more. We are both tremendously excited to continue to grow together as we start the next chapter in our lives as The Staples.
When Travis proposed to me, I was NOT expecting it. Throughout 2019 I had an idea he might, but not when and I certainly never thought it would be at our favorite place on earth, Disneyland (Looking back that was an oversight)! For weeks, all I could think about was the major CHURRO party that was going to go down as soon as we entered the gates. However, flu season was real in December & ya girl was not feeling 100% that morning. BUT, HELLO, IT'S DISNEYLAND, so you go. When we got there it was such a fun day just the two of us. We rode some rides got some snacks (no, there was no churro party yet) and we were having a blast! Travis was like a kid on Christmas morning in Star Wars land. Fast forward through the day, and no churro in site, we ran into one of our best friends and now bridesmaid, Rachel on It's A Small World. We went on the Matterhorn and that was the begging of the end for my stomach. Not feeling well, and wanting nothing but my bed, Travis INSISTED that we take a photo in front of Cinderella's Castle so I could "get my basic B photo with Rachel" (I should have known then, but also he wasn't wrong). Travis wanted to take a quick picture first (he knew I was ready to REALLY NOT BE WELL) and as we were posing, he got down on one knee. I was OVER THE MOON, I was ready to vom, but also so happy that the love of my life was proposing to me at Disneyland, IN A GRINCH SWEATER, might I add, and I couldn't have been happier. Also, for those of you keeping count: I never got my churro, but I did leave with a fiancé!
