How We Met

A Spark Ignited...

We met after we both signed up to participate in a play at New Salem MB church in the fall of 2018. I was a member of the church, while Darnal was a visitor that many had nothing but kind words to say about him. "He's a great actor"... "He did so well in the play when we performed it last.." are just a few of the things I'd hear. After they play, we hit it off as friends. Darnal would come by and playfully swipe my phone as I was reading something as a way to "flirt" with me. I just thought he was being silly and trying to mess with me.. Over the summer of 2019, we started to talk as friends to get to know more about each other. After a few miss opportunities for dates, we finally got a chance to have dinner together in August of 2019. We went to Jackson's Bistro on Harbor island and after the dinner was over, we just sat and talked for hours at the pier. That was the spark that started this beautiful story.

The proposal

First comes love, then comes marriage - 3/14/2021

On the day that would be our 17 month anniversary on March 14th, 2021, we decided that we would go out shopping and grab something to eat. We wanted some time to be together, we just the two of us. It was discussed a few day prior that there would be a surprise birthday celebration for my mother Linda at our home, since she couldn't celebrate her birthday a few days prior. Unbeknownst to me, it was a day that would change our lives forever. Darnal had been planning to propose and was secretly talking to my sisters about how he would do it. He even visited my dad to ask for my hand😍😍. Darnal wanted to include both of our families so what better way than to disguise a proposal in a "party". Throughout the day, Darnal abnormally quiet and in his thoughts as he was preparing to ask a big question. After spending the morning and afternoon together, we decided it was time to go home and prepare for my mom's "party". When we pulled up to the house, I saw all of the cars and thought nothing of it. I was a little confused as to why my sister Tasha didn't want me to help prepare something for the party. When getting out of the car, I was trying to get our shopping bags when Darnal stopped me and said "let me talk to you". I felt something was wrong all day but I didn't know what and he was about to tell me. Darnal asked me if I loved him and I responded kinda dumbfounded like "umm yes"😂😂 LOL but I was more concerned with finding out what was wrong with him. He started to tell me that this party was NOT for my mom at all. 🤔 When the door opened, there was a trail of rose petals that lead to the living room and our families were all there watching and recording. That's when Darnal got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. There were tears all around. And now you're here... as witnesses to the next chapter of our love story.
