Our story began in July 2016 in New York City. Ty met some of Michele's work colleagues for dinner, and she wasn't planning on attending. Sitting at home she thought to herself "I should go, maybe I'll meet someone". She did join them for an exciting night out, and our relationship has been filled with nothing but adventure ever since.
Ty planned to propose on a summer vacation in July 2018 (on a mountain! overlooking a glacial lake! in glacier national park!) but things did not go as planned. The jeweler designing the ring quit his firm (we were told not because of Ty’s incessant chiseling), and Ty was unable to get the ring in time. The ring sat in its special secret hiding spot (Michele still cannot figure out where that is) for six weeks while Ty devised another plan. Michele surprised Ty with a trip to visit friends in Nashville for his birthday in September, and Ty knew he could one-up her surprise. Ty and Michele, along with their friend Joe Vanderburgh (guerilla paparazzi) went to the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, where Ty proposed on a balcony overlooking the property. Michele suspected something special was happening when Ty started crying three words into his speech, with Michele delayed-reaction crying about 10 minutes later. After Michele told the first person she saw that she was engaged (a Cheekwood security guard), they spent the weekend celebrating with friends, and subsequently continue to act like a newly engaged couple with the hope of free champagne wherever they go.
