Dan and Morgan were first introduced at Fairfield University by a mutual friend (well done, Ellie) in 2012. It didn’t take long for Dan to be completely enamored with Morgan, which was obvious to basically everyone but her. Fast-forward two years and a first date was finally secured, thanks to Dan’s persistent nature. Ever since that first date at Barcelona in Fairfield they have been inseparable, even Dan’s deportation to Canada wasn’t enough to split them up!
At the time of the proposal, Dan and Morgan had been dating for four years and living together in Toronto for one. They were back in England visiting Dan’s family over the Christmas period and following a fun-filled New Year’s Eve in Dan’s home village of Lymm, they headed down to London on New Year’s Day. With a mild hangover and a few butterflies in his stomach, the two-hour train ride was full of hot flashes for Dan. Once in London, they headed up the Shard, which posed more challenges than Dan had imagined due to the metal detectors they encountered on the ground floor. Worried he’d set off the alarm if he walked through with the ring, he had to discretely maneuver it from his jeans to his coat with Morgan standing next to him. Fortunately, he succeeded and his cover wasn’t blown. After having a drink on the 31st floor overlooking the city they headed to a small park next to Tower Bridge, a landmark they took pictures in front of on their first trip to London in 2016. It was there where Dan got down on one knee and asked Morgan to be his wife. Full of shock, it took Morgan a couple of minutes to say anything, let alone “yes”. However, she eventually managed to blurt it out, much to Dan’s relief. Unfortunately, due to Morgan’s need to stop and take pictures of the “cute English streets”, Dan’s plan to have his friend, Mike Floyd, capture the moment was foiled. Mike had to take a different route to the spot in fear of being caught and missed the entire thing. Although, it should be noted that he still showed up with a bottle of Champagne to say congratulations!
