A 30 minute drive from the historic district of Savannah, Tybee Island has great beaches for sunbathing and swimming! When we visited, we loved going to the Tybee Lighthouse and the Fort Pulaski National Monument. There are also kayaking tours and dolphin tours! Our favorite restaurant for food is Crab Shack, which offers amazing seafood!
Forsyth Park is the largest and oldest public park in Savannah. We love just walking around and enjoying the scenery of live oaks and Spanish moss and the iconic fountain! The Forsyth Farmers Market occurs every Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Collins Quarter is a restaurant that resides within the park, offering a great menu of foods and drinks for brunch!
River Street is our favorite place to walk around! River street runs along the Savannah River, and it's always cool to see the large cargo ships driving by! There are a ton of restaurants and shops to explore, as well as an open air marketplace towards the eastern end of the street!
Savannah has an abundance of old, historic houses that offer tours within the homes. During these tours, you will learn about the architecture of the homes, as well as their deep and often dark histories. Some houses to tour are the Mercer-Williams House, Andrew Low House, Sorrel Weed House, Owens-Thomas House, and more.
Savannah is said to be the most haunted city in America, and we never visit without going on a ghost tour! There are tons of options to choose from, most being walking tours, but there are also trolley ghost tours offered. Our personal favorite has been a haunted pub crawl with Savannah Ghost Tours! The drinks were all-inclusive, but it is an adult-only tour.
