My roommate, his coworker, decided to play matchmaker. Thanks to his persistence, we finally messaged each other. It didn’t get off to a hot start in the beginning, but we eventually set a date to meet. We had our first date at Thirsty Belgian, where he ordered a kwak glass (the kind with the wooden stand). He found my first attempt to drink from the kwak amusing. The rest is history.
We were on our annual vacation at Adam's family cabin. Prior to the family arriving on the first morning, he was eager to get out fishing. I was reluctant, enjoying a cup of coffee and a good book, trying to take in all the relaxing vacation vibes. Adam was pacing around outside and after he started knocking on the windows, I figured it was important I get on the boat. We took off across Pelican lake to our usually casting spot. He was showing me how to use the new trolling motor remote, so I did not realize he was down on one knee. After a drawn-out silence and a few glances back and forth between the ring box and the remote, I realized what was about to happen. That's when he asked me, "Are you ready to make the biggest mistake of your life?" Between tears and shock, I managed to say, "YES!" While we may not have caught any fish that morning, it is still our best fishing memory because we caught each other!
