Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Megan Hall and Rainer Schertel
Northern Michigan is one of our favorite spots with a lot to do and see. Here are some of our recommendations for activities while you’re in the area:

Charlevoix

Charlevoix, MI 49720

Charlevoix is a wonderful little vacation spot. If you're planning on staying in the area, we recommend shopping downtown, taking a "Mushroom House" tour, walking to the beaches of Lake Michigan, and a wine tasting or tour of our beautiful venue, Castle Farms.

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island, MI 49757

About an hour drive North and a ferry shuttle from Mackinaw City, Mackinaw Island is one of our favorite spots. We recommend a carriage tour, biking around the island, and lots of fudge!

Traverse City

Traverse City, MI

About an hour south of Charlevoix, Traverse City is a cute area filled with activities. We recommend the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, downtown shopping, and the beaches of Grand Traverse Bay.

Petoskey

Petoskey, MI 49770

Another city on the lake, Petosky is only about a 30-minute drive North of Charlevoix. This is a great spot for people who want to shop, eat great food, and hangout and a brewery or two.

Tunnel of Trees

Michigan 119, Harbor Springs, MI 49740

If you're planning on heading North, we recommend taking a small detour through the "Tunnel of Trees" on M-119. It's a beautiful scenic drive along the coast of Lake Michigan.

The Upper Peninsula

Naubinway, MI 49762

The U.P. of Michigan is about an hour North and a trip over the famous Mackinac Bridge and is a whole adventure by itself. If you plan on extending your trip, the U.P. is a wonderful spot for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, or fishing.
