We got married on 04.16.22 -- thank you so much to all who celebrated with us!
"I felt like Will Smith in the movie 'Hitch'. The cocktail bar I picked for our first date was packed, so we stumbled into a tacky sports bar across the street. I thought a 9pm start time would set the mood, but she had come from a long workday and started yawning openly at the table. We ate bad food, drank awful drinks, and shared no goodnight kiss—when the date ended, she bolted straight into a cab. I was sure I blew it. Thankfully, I must have done something right. Soon after, she met me for a second date. Then a third, and a fourth. When I left New York, we dated long distance, meeting up in cities all over, any chance we could get. She moved in with me to Houston, then Colorado, then DC, and now New York again. We'd eventually go back to that tacky sports bar one day, this time on purpose, and this time (unbeknownst to her), to mark the end of this chapter of our lives. I proposed one week later."
"I should have known something was up. It was Saturday morning and Mark took a 7am shower, right before he was supposed to go play basketball. He never showers early, and he's terrible at basketball. My friend Michele took me out for coffee, and made me sit down in the middle of an NYC median (she was stalling for time). My mom called to tell me about the coffee she got at Dunkin that morning and Mark's mom, who lives in Maryland, texted me about how nice the weather was in New York. How did I miss all that? I was truly oblivious. When I walked in the door of our apartment, I saw the candles, the flowers, and Mark standing there with a box—finally, I knew. I said yes to my best friend, and... well, you've seen the video.
