Yes! Jason and Julia got married at the Courthouse in Sacramento on September 24th, 2020. Because Covid was rampant, the couple decided to have a very small gathering at Julia's parent's house in Davis. It was a beautiful and intimate event, but they were so sad they couldn't share their wedding with everyone they love. Four years later, almost to the day, they're incredibly excited to celebrate with you all!
Lair of the Golden Bear is a year-round campsite composed of three camps; Blue, Gold, and Oski. Julia worked as a Lair Staffer throughout her time at UC Berkeley almost every summer, so it holds a special place in her heart. Run by the Cal Alumni Association, it's an incredible and family-oriented place situated in the Stanislaus National Forest. While we hope you'll immerse yourself in the lair experience for the weekend, we do understand that this may not be feasible for everyone. If you would rather stay in a hotel, there are a few that are relatively close to the venue. Prices vary, and you will be responsible for booking your own accommodation. There will still be an offsite venue fee which will need to be paid in order to secure your RSVP. Let us know if this is your plan and we are happy to help.
It depends! Verizon users typically have reliable internet. All other phone carriers will likely have no internet at all, except in the Camp Blue Lodge.
Julia's #1 tip: It gets COOOOOOLD at night, so bring lots of layers! All cabins have a few outlets so an electric blanket is also highly recommended. You will be required to bring your own bedding for your cabin. Learn more about what to bring and what NOT to bring here: https://alumni.berkeley.edu/camp-at-the-lair/what-to-bring/
Yes, absolutely! The Famous Julian Tak will be in attendance, and of course we want your kiddos there, too.
Yes! The Lair staff are no stranger to accommodating special food requests. Just let us know ahead of time.
Pinecrest, CA is a gorgeous place and we hope you have some time to enjoy. At Camp Blue itself, there's a playground, pool, small store, and lodge. The Pinecrest Lake is beautiful to behold and only a short drive or walk away. You can rent boats, paddleboards, and more at the Pinecrest Lake Dock. There are also many hikes nearby.
