It's a classic tale of girl meets boy, they fall in love, girl goes to Spain, boy student teaches at girl's old high school, they fall in love again...not a classic? Well, then, even better. It's our story. Corey and I met in the spring of 2013 at Appalachian State University. And by "met" I mean I gazed at his cute face from afar and was lucky enough that our theatre teacher forced us to sit next to each other at a play (shout out to Derek Davidson). That was just the beginning. We didn't see each other again until the next fall. Although, we probably did see each other because we were both from Raleigh and likely happened to be at the same restaurant, musical, or grocery store unknowingly shuffling among "the one." That next fall, he walked into my general education religion class, and with one look and a wave all of my "stay single" plans went straight out the window. I'm sure glad they did because I was about to fall into the deepest love I had ever known. You see, I knew I would be leaving the country next semester, but I decided to pursue him anyway - Corey was worth it. In class, it was nonstop talking and laughter. We're both pretty lucky that we passed that class. However, I couldn't stand it any longer - I wanted to spend time with him outside of those gray walls, for more than just an hour and a half at a time every Tuesday and Thursday. In a not-so-subtle way, I shared that I "hoped" to see him that weekend, desperately wishing he would ask for my number. And lucky me - he did! Corey whipped out his flip phone and boy was I swooning. We would spend the next few months learning about and loving each other. My heart raced every time I was around him (it still does). Those months would eventually lead us to forever. Though geography and timing weren't always on our side - we finally got it right at a Mellow Mushroom in 2017. And the rest is history...and the present...and the future. We can't wait for forever.
