On December 14, 2024, we went to the botanical garden’s holiday lights for the first time. It was freezing, and I was a little cranky, but he was insistent that we stop under the last light arch to take a “family picture.” I didn’t think much of it — I just wanted to get warm again! After waiting forever to ask someone to take our picture, we got ready for the photo. But instead of getting a family photo, our daughter looked up at me and said, “Mommy, will you marry my dad?” I turned, completely shocked, to see him down on one knee. He had planned the whole thing so the proposal would be caught on video — and I had no idea! It couldn’t have been more perfect. Surrounded by the lights, the kids, and so much love, I said “yes.”
