It was a typical going out night in college and my friend, Chloe, dragged me to this apartment of guys she grew up with. I walk in to a group of 5 college boys, including Eric, giving it their all on a Rock Band performance. Not a single one of them spoke to me (lol). Flash forward through two years of friendship, yes we all finally spoke, and Eric and I started dating. Well, three years later and here we are. Lucky for him I didn't mind being ignored... but I'll definitely be talking about it for the rest of our lives!
It was the last day of a beach vacation and Eric was acting weird and nervous all day. I thought it had everything to do with our impending move and starting his new job the following week - boy, was I wrong. Eric had asked me earlier in the day to go on a walk and of course I was so oblivious and invited our friends Alex and Kelsey along. Eric had to text his brother (and best man), Jack, to ensure we would eventually be alone . After a long walk on the beach, and getting rid of our friends, we came to a very secluded spot where Eric got down on one knee! I was so shocked the first words out of my mouth were "oh my god, no, no." When I finally realized what was happening I immediately said "YES!" We then spent the rest of the night celebrating on the beach!
After the March 2020 shutdown there were a lot of things up in the air for us. Eric was scheduled to graduate in May and I was furloughed indefinitely from my job. Things started looking up when Eric got a job at TIRR, a rehabilitation hospital in Houston. He was able to get his graduation back on track and was preparing to start his new job in the summer. Fortunately, I was able to successfully transfer from my job in New Orleans to a new location in Houston. We had to find a new apartment in a new city virtually, due to COVID restrictions and moved in May 2020 without even seeing it in person! There was a lot of back and forth and we have both officially been living in Houston since August 2020. Although we haven't been able to fully experience our new city, we look forward to exploring what it has to offer!
