It all started at my locker at Murphy Jr. High School, just 13 years old! Patrick and I were friends for a few months before becoming "official" on December 4th, 2009. We dated for 3 years before going our separate ways during college. Then in 2016, we rekindled, and the rest is history! Doing long distance for 2 years, Patrick would visit me at school in Tampa, and I would visit him at school in Michigan. We eventually moved to NYC, and now setting roots down in Morristown, New Jersey.
In true Patrick fashion, he told me (the day before) that he had a last minute holiday work dinner in Brooklyn that we needed to attend...tomorrow. So, that night we went to the mall and scrambled to find something to wear. Patrick claims he could not tell me any earlier, or else it would have left too much time for overthinking (He knows me too well!) The next day, we headed to Brooklyn where I thought we were going to a work dinner, staying the night, and then to have lunch with our friends... only to find out that was not the real plan! As we were walking toward the Brooklyn Bridge, Patrick stopped for a second and started feeling around for something in his pocket. He then looked at me and said, "Are you ready for this?" My response was "Ready for what? I thought this was a dinner with a bunch of guys from work!" Sure enough, he got down on one knee and surprised the crap out of me! I am usually one to ask way too many questions, so I never thought he would ever pull one over on me like this, but he did, very successfully too! After I asked him if this was real, or if this was this just a practice run...I finally said, "Yes!" We then headed over to a bar at The TimeOut Market to have a glass of champagne and call our friends and family to share the exciting news. Then we were off to The River Cafe for an amazing dinner on the water.
