Our first interaction was in January of 2020. I, Brenda, had just come back from a birthday trip to New York City (before we knew COVID would also be visiting). Both Daniel and I had separately decided that the coming internship semester at our church would be our first. Daniel had been attending Hillsong KC for almost two years, while I had only been there since spring of 2019. Fast forward, he caught my eye. His grace, kindness, and soft spokenness intrigued me. After some time, I decided that I would invite him to come and get burgers with us after church one Sunday, sadly he was not able to make it, but I decided to get him one anyway. After four hours, I handed him a nice, cold burger. At the end of the day, it was the gesture that he appreciated. This began a long season of nice gestures leading us to our first date. Although I may say "long season," this happened in a span of one month, it seemed long at the time though. We began dating March 21st of 2020, one week after the infamous shut down. Many events and circumstances within the year helped grow us together, where it may have torn us apart. Luckily by the end of it all, Daniel knew that I was the one for him, and I knew that he was the one for me, so he put a ring on it.
