Andrew and I met through our mutual friends Ryan and Ashley Thiele. We were acquaintances in college, but never really got to know one another until a group of us went out to dinner at Miller’s pub in Milwaukee one night. We ended up sitting next to each other and realized we had a lot in common and ended up hitting it off!
The Buzinski and Huss families gathered together for a weekend away in Door County, WI for what I thought was going to be a birthday celebration for Mike. While there, we went to Simon Creek Winery in Sturgeon Bay for a wine tasting. After the wine tasting, we walked the vineyards and stumbled upon a pond where my mom requested some family photos for a Christmas card. Both families had taken their photos when I asked Andrew for an individual photo. As Andrew and I began to take photographs together, he turned and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with all of our family members surrounding us. Through numerous tears I screamed yes! Then, as we were making our way back to the winery for drinks, our friends Ashley & Ryan Thiele surprised us and joined our party! We could have not asked for a better engagement celebration.
When Andrew and I first began searching for our wedding venue, we wanted it to reflect us in all forms. Andrew comes from a country background and I’m a city girl. When we stumbled across Oak Hill Farms, we knew we had found the perfect blend of us. The farm is located on a beautiful hill that overlooks Galena, IL. The 200 acre farm has SEVEN different sites to entertain our guests, ensuring that each new space our guests gather, would be an experience and less like a standard hall or venue. The pavilion (our reception area) is a brand new white shiplap space with string lights and chandeliers. Our ceremony space is hidden within a forest that looks like the marriage scene from Twilight. This space also includes a cute little white chapel, rustic barn spaces, and a blue 1930s Ford A model car that we are using as our get away vehicle after the ceremony. Additionally, many of the properties accents portray a more rustic theme which Andrew really liked because he felt like it was “a little taste of his home town”. We cannot wait to celebrate with everyone! See you all September 24th, 2022. #TheRestIsHusstory
Andrew and I fell in love with this charming little town because it reminded us of Door County, WI. One of our favorite places to go. Our guests can golf at Eagle Ridge Resort, the #2 rated golf course in Illinois, sip wine at one of the various wineries, shop on Main Street or “helluva half mile” in the heart of Galena, IL, Canoe down the river, go hot air ballooning, or zip line! We wanted our guests to have the chance to make this a family weekend if they so choose to!
