Therese and Adam met at Congress Hall in Cape May New Jersey where Therese was a waitress downstairs and Adam was a server upstairs. Adam came downstairs to the bar lounge to use the restrooms and that’s when they saw each other for the first time. Therese and Adam were instantly excited and curious about one another and introduced themselves right there. It didn’t take Therese long to figure out that he didn’t have a bathroom problem, that he in fact, just liked her and always made excuses to go down stairs to “use the bathroom”. Their first date was a dog date where they went to a local beach for the day and played with the puppies as they got to know each other. They knew from the moment they met something special was happening between them and they were so smitten at the thought.
Adam planned a spontaneous trip to DC to go see the cherry blossom festival and we were both very excited. The trees were breath taking and it was such a beautiful day. I had no idea Adam had anything planned and he had the best poker face the whole time. (Although I did notice mild sweating throughout the day!) At one point in our walk, we both had to use the restroom. There was a bathroom near the gift shop and Adam had gone and bought a cherry blossom tree kit where he then hid the ring! He told me he bought it as a souvenir for his parents. When we were done, we walked around some more and he had asked a couple to take our picture by one of the beautiful booming trees. Meanwhile he told them he was going to propose and that person told their friend who also recorded the whole thing! Adam did it so discreetly I didn’t notice a thing (and I notice everything!) The man told us to smile and that’s when Adam turned to me, got down on one knee, and asked “Therese, will you marry me”? Of course I was speechless, literally, and so nervous in front of ALL the eyes that were on us that I simply shook my head yes and then told him he had dirt on his pants from kneeling! We cried, we laughed, we hugged and it’s a day we won’t ever forget. Smitten just like the day we met.
