Question

What is a Tea Ceremony?

Answer

In traditional Vietnamese culture, the tea ceremony is the beginning step of the entire wedding process. It is a ceremony where the groom and his family asks the bride’s family for their daughter’s hand in marriage. It is a symbol of the coming together of two families. The ceremony entails a procession, speeches, family introductions, prayers, and a light lunch.

Question

What do I wear to the tea ceremony?

Answer

Although there is no formal dress code, some guests are welcomed to be dressed or partially dressed for the rest of the wedding festivities. Men typically choose to wear suits or collared shirts and women prefer slightly more casual spring dresses.

Question

Is there a cocktail hour?

Answer

No, there will not be a formal cocktail hour. There will be a few hours between the conclusion of the church ceremony and the start of the reception. We encourage you to take this time to settle down before the party begins!

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

We do not have a typical wedding registry. We are very excited to celebrate our love with you all and appreciate your attendance. In typical Vietnamese fashion, there will be a card box available at the reception and it will also be brought along at a designated time during the reception when we will greet all of our guests.

Question

What kind of food will be served?

Answer

We will be serving a typical Vietnamese, 10-course, family-style meal consisting of various soups, appetizers, and entrees.
