Best Man
Matthew (I’m a high profile student athlete) Okiishi. Some say west coast, he says best coast. Matthew went from sunny days and warm beaches to the frigid ever-changing tundra of the Midwest. Justin and Matt’s friendship grew as they became roommates and bonded over college football and dominos pizza. This man not only fights for workers rights in Ohio as a lawyer, but also fights 40/64 traffic to be there for his friends. If you ever run into this amazing guy, yell out “O-H-“ and you’ll receive an enthusiastic “I-O!” in return.
Maid of Honor
Theresa and Amanda go back, like way back... back to the days of princess dresses, monkey bars, and Velcro shoes. They also covered MASH, Josie and the Pussycats, braces, and a hatred for washing dishes while camping all by each other’s side. Amanda is the OG and the real deal (and I bet she can still recite the Girl Scout pledge). She’ll stand up to any bullies by your side, and help you write about it in your journal later. To be cheesy “everyone has a friend during each stage of life, but only lucky ones have the same friend in all stages of life”. Theresa is lucky this girl showed up at the same Kindercare.
Groomsman
Micky (Kicky) Kaufman. Let’s raise a glass of “CHAC-late mIlk” to the man, the myth, the legend. What more can you say about a man that has changed so many lives? He built Maryville University’s Cross Country/Track and Field program from the ground up and brought numerous life long friends together; including a majority of this wedding party. He was the glue that kept everyone together and served as a mentor to keep us in line. There are not enough thank you’s to exemplify how grateful Justin is to have received that fateful recruiting email. However, Theresa claims that him and Justin are “far too chatty”.
Bridesmaid
Lauren came into Theresa’s life at just the right time. Just two Nursing Student’s trying to get through Nursing Fundamentals and measure out 1” margins on our APA papers. We thought our scrubs looked cool and knew absolutely nothing about nursing. Lauren is full of heart and full of sass. Theresa can always rely on her for a mic drop level comeback with a side of shade. Theresa is lucky to share a ton of memories with Lauren... too bad she can’t share many of them on here.
Groomsman
Casey (Blaze) Humphrey. Some would call him a well traveled man, Justin just wished he would make up his mind. Born in the Midwest in small town Nebraska, Casey grew up with the values of loyalty, grit, and Husker Football. Casey was the first best friend that Justin made on Maryville’s campus, while their history goes back 10 years for how close they are they could have been childhood friends. He is also credited with coining the Nickname “Juice”.
Bridesmaid
Ellie. Ellie. Ellie. Although it took years to figure out your real name we have come to consider you one of our closest friends. As a Villa girl, Ellie was Theresa’s ultimate High School competition with the Priory Boys; proven by her marriage to the one and only Jacob Mohrmann. Ellie is a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air, her shining disposition makes you feel like you’re wrapped in a fleece blanket. Theresa is thrilled to have gained another dog mom in the crew.
Groomsman
Zach (FIRE sale) Boyle. He is a brother from another mother...... and father. Meeting Zach on his recruiting visit changed Justin’s life in countless ways. Not only did Justin find a friend, but also a brother. They’ve had so many great memories from traveling to Spring Hill College for spring break, to driving to Nebraska and missing the Husker game. He inspired Justin with his dedication to running and his studies. Justin is glad to have ended up with such a great friend in a great city, they call it the city by the bay.
Bridesman
As a West Point Graduate and a Captain in the United States Military, not many get to see Shawn let his hair down. Luckily Theresa has gotten to see that side of him her entire life; from singing tone-deaf Opera through the house, to a more lighthearted “Uptown Girl” at the karaoke bar. As kids, Shawn was THE most annoying older brother, but he toughened Theresa up through constant WWE style matches. Shawn has a laugh and a smile that lights up a room. Theresa has always looked up to his hard work ethic and kindness.
Groomsman
Erik is the more creative and left-brained of the Halley boys. He can walk into a room full of random people and instantly create a masterpiece. His artistic skills only sum up a fraction of who this man is; a follower of Christ, a self proclaimed comedian, and has a voice as smooth as Morgan Freeman’s. These only begin to sum up this amazing young man. Justin is lucky to have had this man by his side growing up.
Bridesman
Brendan (BP) Phillips. Brendan takes a ...relaxed approach to the work week, with MANY four day weeks. Which says something about who he is; a relaxed, loving and care free guy, like a golden retriever in real life (he even used to have the hair to match). Brendan is the only person that appreciates his friends so much that he would take a week of vacation for a “friends week” to spend time with us. You can always count on Brendan to open his door to friends with a stocked fridge. Even though he has asked us to use “Black and White” as our first dance song for years, we’re still allowing him in the wedding party.
Groomsman
Joseph (tried to live in Costa Rica) Zuniga. Joe was a frail young man who decided to walk on to the Maryville Cross Country/Track and Field Team. Justin took young Joseph under his wing and taught him the ropes of running Collegiate track and field. Little did Justin know, after just a couple weeks of training Joe would instantly become better than him. Justin was impressed by Joseph’s hard work, great character, and love for coffee.
Bridesman
Theresa met Jacob at a 16th birthday party, she can still hear “Tricky” playing in the background. Jacob was an original Priory boy and was there through homecoming dances, twister matches, toasting, and sharknado. Jacob is a true friend... even though he was late to most events, despite Theresa telling him they started 30 minutes earlier. Jacob always brings his personality to life with woven jackets, big boom boxes, and cereal boxes on the wall. Jacob has a huge heart and a friendship with him just makes you feel special.
Usher
Theresa met Jack at the same faithful sweet sixteen party as Jacob. They instantly became “The Priory Boys”. Jack and Theresa bonded over a love for tennis; along with toasting, sharknado, and homecomings. He is always sure to lead by example and he always has your back. Theresa is lucky to have Jack as a supporter for all these years. Even if she did have have to cumulate this friendship by randomly showing up to wash your dog. Thank goodness he didn’t wear his poodle skirt to meet Carolina.
