We met while we were each on a family vacation to Eminence, Missouri. I was living in Los Angeles on a trip with my grandparents and have gone on this trip every summer while growing up, but because life got busy I stopped going besides one time in college. Elliott was with his parents, sister's family, and their family friends. He had gone for several years with his family! While at the horse camp: in the morning, you ride horses. In the afternoon, you float down the river. And at night you dance along to the live band. While we love two-stepping and line dancing, the circle dance will forever hold a special place in our hearts- where the boys create a circle in the center and the girls make a larger circle, surrounding theirs. We walk in opposite directions until the singer says “break the tie” and you grab a partner and have a 30-second slow dance. A few partners into the dance, by chance we were dancing. Apparently, we’ve danced together before. Elliott had asked, “Do you remember me?” With a very confused "no" He lets me know it wasn't our first dance. “4 years ago, we danced- you were wearing a red dress, black boots.” I never believed in love at first sight until then. Well, second sight, I suppose. 30 seconds pass and back to the circle with his promise of “another dance later” After what felt like forever, Elliott finally came up to ask me to dance. I was beyond giddy to dance with him. And we continue dancing for the next two days. I met his parents, learned his life, and we shared stories till dawn. When it was time for us to go, I had concluded that I would never see Elliott again. I chalked our romance up to a once-in-a-lifetime, what-you-see-on-lifetime-tv affair. But every single day we talked, texted, facetimed, and talked about when we would see each other next. I packed up my life and moved cross country because I knew I had found a once-in-a-lifetime love. And our adventures continue!
