We’ve technically known each other since middle school, but it wasn’t until our senior year of high school that we really became close. A quick “hi” in the hallway between first and second period became the highlight of our mornings, and pretty soon, we were inseparable — even when one of us (Andy) was leading our student section at football games in a full green morph suit. We spent so much time together, from beach bonfires in Malibu to boredom-fueled drives to the Valley, that everyone around us assumed we were already dating. Andy will forever get the bragging rights for making the first move, but we stayed “just friends” for a while. He helped Kaylie move into her junior-year apartment at UCSB, then headed off to Seattle. Life took us in different directions for a couple of years, but when we both ended up back home in Thousand Oaks and grabbed coffee to catch up, it felt like no time had passed at all. Our shared love of horror movies turned into a weekly tradition of hitting the theaters, and pretty soon, we were attached at the hip again. Andy started working with Kaylie’s dad, his house became the launch pad for weekend hangouts, and he even joined the Luedke family camping trips. Somewhere along the line, friendship turned into something more. It was Kaylie’s turn to come clean, and after (not-so-discreetly) spending more and more time at his house, she finally told him. The rest, as they say, is history! In October 2024, during our annual mountain cabin trip with our dog Kaia, Andy proposed during a snowy hike in the woods. Kaylie was so surprised that the first words out of her mouth were, “You’re lying!” Andy custom-designed the engagement ring, inspired by Kaylie’s mom’s, which made the moment even more special. We spent a cozy weekend watching the snow, flipping through movies, and calling all our friends and family to say it was *finally* happening. After more than 13 years of knowing each other and nearly seven years together, we’re so excited to finally be getting married — and even more excited to celebrate with all of you who have been part of our story along the way!
