How We Met

According to Adri

My good friend, Lizzy, and I were unsuccessfully studying in the library at school when we decided chewing gum would help us focus. I dared Lizzy to ask the next person who came through the door for some gum. Some seconds later in walked a a well-dressed, brown-eyed, brown-skinned man. Lizzy hissed at him to come over. His eyes went big and he looked to his left and right and then back at us, whispering, "Who, me?". "Yes you!" Lizzy whispered back beckoning him over with silent but dramatic arm movements. We asked him if he had gum and he told us he didn't but he would go find us some. A few minutes later he returned with a handful of assorted items which may have included an elastic band, thumb tack, Lego piece, paperclip, and, a half package of Trident peppermint gum. It was friends at first chew.

How We Met

According to David

It was a dark and stormy night. I was headed to the library for the first time in my life. The library—a place of isolation and imprisonment—loomed over me as I entered. It was, however, a place I needed to go. So. How did I meet Adri? Well, it was a a surprise I must say. As I trudged up to the second floor of the library—all the while praying for strength, wisdom, and knowledge as I was about to tackle the daunting task of finishing an essay I left last minute—I was shouted at as I came through the door at the top of the stairs. In the quiet, large room a brunette and a blonde wanted a piece of gum, and, determined to have some, they chose to flag down the first person that came through those doors. I already had failure and demise hanging over my head so I freaked out thinking I had done something wrong. With my tail between my legs I went over asking, "What's up? What's the matter? What did I do wrong?". These gum-starving girls explained it had been forever since they had a piece and wouldn't be able to focus without one. So, naturally, as I didn't have any I went on a search party until I found some. This was the beginning of our unique friendship. Who knew a piece of gum could be so sticky.
