10min from Lucky Arrow Retreat. Wonderful breakfast/lunch spot, gets busy, worth the wait.
Hill Country: Jester King Brewery
18 minutes from Lucky Arrow. Super popular beer ranch (lots of sours, wine, no liquor) excellent pizza and snacks, great for kids with big land and walking trails, they also have goats!
Hill Country: Treaty Oak Distilling
10 minutes from Lucky Arrow. They make whiskey. Is it good? No clue. But a beautiful ranch, very good sandwich food truck, often live music. Sandwich menu: https://www.louies-ny-sammies.net/

Hill Country: Tillie's
Stunning atmosphere, great food. Pricey, Worth it. It's a hillside, countryside restaurant, on the property of Camp Lucy. You might think you're lost on the way. Again, worth it.

It's coffee! Pastries and lite sandwiches too.
Austin: Taco Flats-Clarksville
Taco Hall of Fame Selection: Pirata. 4-6 locations throughout town, Clarkesville location being the nicest. Our friend Simon owns it. Excellent tacos and margaritas.
Austin: The Meteor
Taco Hall of Fame selection: The veggie one. Also, get all the salsas. You want Austin? It's a cafe. It's a bar. Big menu. $6 espressos and groups of cyclists? Eh. How about a massive wine selection, and a pretty legit menu. Woohoo! Counter service. Overall, excellent food.
Austin: Fresa's - South First
Just simple, fresh grilled chicken, shrimp and other Tex-Mex plates in a great atmosphere. Killer margs and cocktails. Reasonably priced.
Austin: Dolce Neve Gelato
Gelato! Two locations supposedly, we go to this one near our house.
Austin: Elizabeth Street Café
A gem. Mom's gonna love it. Vietnamese/French but not exclusively. Incredible drinks too.
Austin: Hoover's Cooking
My first favorite place in town. Comfort Food/Soul Food/Good Food. If you've never had a chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, or jalapeño-creamed spinach, GO. Basic atmosphere, but full-service.
Austin: Sour Duck Market
One of the casual, "has it all spots". Full service restaurant with homemade everything. All cocktails, coffees, baked goods, great on-tap beer selection. Mainly outside on picnic tables, be forewarned. Everything delicious except the ketchup. Really. It's homemade and sugarless. Didn't know how important that was. Keep Austin Weird, I suppose.
Austin: Nixta Taqueria
