Ryan and Kim have gone through all of grade school together, but became friends their freshman year of high school when they were both placed on the bass line of their drum line. From there, their friendship grew stronger until they eventually started dating the summer before their senior year, and they've been together since.

After Ryan received a set of golf clubs from his grandfather, and Kim received a set from her brother-in-law, the two decided it'd be fun to take up golf. The first couple seasons we're a tough adjustment, but now it's something they do almost every weekend in the summer. On one of the last weekend's of the season, Ryan went to visit Kim in Erie and suggested they go to one of their favorite courses in the area. On the last hole of the course, Kim putted her ball in the hole, and Ryan offered to grab the ball for her. That's when he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring, much to Kim's surprise. After some initial celebration, Ryan suggested they grab something to eat from the pro shop's restaurant. Once they entered the restaurant's back patio, Kim was surprised to see all of their closet friends and family there to celebrate with them. It was such a special day!
