It all started with Cinco de Mayo. On Cinco de Mayo 2016, the amazing Jeremy Lawson was putting on a wedding industry networking event at a bridal shop in Evanston. His husband Jarrod and their friend Liz run a side business officiating weddings, so they were going to the event to network with some other wedding folk and get their names out there for future officiating business. A couple hours before the event started, Jeremy realized he had more food and booze than people coming to the party, so he put a post on Facebook inviting anyone interested in free food and drink to come on by. Jarrod's college friend Bryce saw the Facebook post, recognized a good deal when he saw it, and decided to stop by the party. That night, shortly after arriving and while working on her second margarita of what would turn out to be a very margarita-heavy night, Liz spied Bryce from across the room. Intrigued, she asked Jarrod who the 'sad bearded dude' was, and Jarrod explained that it was his old friend Bryce who had just moved back to the city. Liz, buzzed and feeling friendly, announced she was going to go talk to him. They would spend most of the rest of the evening getting drunk and flirting before parting ways for the evening. Bryce would find Liz on Facebook a couple of weeks later and then offer her a ride to Jeremy's birthday party a couple of weeks after that. They spent the birthday party once again getting their drink on and flirting. Liz could tell this young bearded lad had potential, so at the end of the evening, Liz invited Bryce to her own birthday party at a speakeasy the following weekend. At Liz's party, Bryce showed up in speakeasy-themed garb, and Liz was instantly smitten. The next week she asked him out for drinks on what would become their first date. One date became lots of dates as they both discovered a mutual love of history, whiskey, and books. Then in Paris on Valentine's Day 2018, Bryce asked Liz to keep having adventures for the rest of their lives.
