Definitely worth a visit while Franshhoek way. If you know the Newt in Somerset, Babylonstoren is owned by the same people. A gorgeous wine farm with lots to see; beautiful gardens, a restaurant, a farm shop. If you have expressed that you would like to get the transfer to and from Franschhoek, this is one of the stops we will organise on the way back if there is interest.
One of Brad and I's favourite wine farms to visit. There is a beautiful sun deck that looks out over the vineyards, perfect for an afternoon drink. There are plenty of other beautiful wine farms in the area so if you find yourself a free afternoon, just let us know and we can recommend some other options.
Boulders beach is a popular visit for those who want to see the world famous penguin beach. You'll need a car to travel here so we would advise tying this in with a drive along Chapman's peak if you are hiring a car for a short period. It can also get quite busy, so factor that in to your travel plans. Tickets can be purchased from SANParks website.
Chapman's peak drive is "one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world", and a must do while you are visiting Cape Town. You will need to hire a car to do so and there is a small toll fee required to drive the route (however definitely worth it). An amazing drive at all times, but especially during sunset where you can stop off at one of the picnic stops to take in the views.
Wine country, and the location of our wedding venue. A small town surrounded by wine farms. If you have time over the wedding weekend, we would definitely recommend you stopping off for tastings at one (or more) of the farms in the area. Le Lude is a favourite for champagne tastings, and xx for wine tastings. There is a wine tram that stops between the various farms that is also a lot of fun.
A beautiful botanical garden that overlooks the mountains. Entry is R230 (~£10). They often host outdoor concerts that are definitely worth attending. We will check closer to the time and see if anyone is interested!
One of the most famous hikes in Cape Town. A little challenging towards the top (apparently) but worth it for the views. If Lion's head isn't suitable for you and you would like alternative walking / hiking routes, do let us know and we can provide some other options.
One of our favourite beaches in Cape Town. You will need to either drive or Uber here but it is definitely worth it. We would also recommend any of the Clifton Beaches (walking distance from Sea Point) and Saunders for sunset or a morning swim.
A food and lifestyle market that serves a variety of cuisines, live music and a bar.
The best gelato out there, you will not regret it. One of Soph's favourite places in the whole of Cape Town. Soph and Brad have spent plenty an evening here (after Sophie has convinced Brad that gelato is of course, absolutely necessary even though they've had one every day that week).
A must visit, hosted at the V&A every sunday and Wednesday evening, A variety of food stands, fresh food and small stalls.
Table mountain is a must visit while you are in Cape Town. Tickets can be purchased from the below link, however we recommend you wait until you are in town to book, given you want to make sure you go up on a clear day to experience the full views. Although out of season, it can be busy so it is advised you get there early and get the first cable up if possible.
A great spot for lunch, shopping and drinks.
