A little bit outside of Leesburg is a great brewery where we celebrated one of Alexander's birthdays! It is close to the Appalachian Trail so you could do a hike and then grab a beer!
Here you can find tons of coffee shops and restaurants in walking distance. We recommend Cowbell Kitchen, Goosecup, and SideBar but there are lots of places to try!
Bear's Den Trail is easy with a great view but there are tons of other trails via AllTrails.
Part of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center displays thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, a Blackbird SR-71, and a Concorde, in two large hangars.
If you want to travel into DC from Leesburg, the quickest way is to drive. We recommend using the app SpotHero to reserve a parking spot in the city. These usually run from $20-40 but could be more expensive if there are events downtown. A more cost effective option is taking the Metro from Ashburn (15 mins away) but this will take at least double the amount of time.
Our favorite DC restaurant - where we celebrated our engagement with family! If you go the Palak Chaat is a MUST.
Most museums around the National Mall you can walk into free of charge. However, the Holocaust Museum and African American History Museum requires free tickets for entry so be sure to book those in advance.
Visit one of Alexander's favorite places and be sure to see the elephants! You need free tickets to visit here as well. There is street parking around the Zoo but paying for parking may be the easiest.
One of our other favorites in the city! Please try the Oyamel Margarita with salt foam!
The Monuments are a classic place to visit! Like true DC post-grads, one of our first dates was to see the monuments at night! We highly recommend visiting if you have the chance. Again parking is the easiest way to get there but make sure you are wearing your walking shoes!
One of our favorite things about DC is the variety of cuisines. If you want to try something unique we recommend Afghani from Lapis, Thai from Sura, Laotian from Thip Kao, Korean from Anju, or Malaysian from Makan.
