It all began at Marian Central, where we passed each other in the halls, aware of one another but never really connecting. That changed in the summer of 2016 when we both attended a mission trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there that we started talking. However, it wasn’t until the following summer, at a mission trip gathering at the Hartlieb's house, that something shifted between us. That’s when we swapped numbers and started texting regularly. After weeks of chatting in the halls of Marian, texting, and long phone calls on the Pivnicka’s house phone, we finally decided to meet up for a date. It turned out we were both at Lippold Park—Connor was there to play frisbee golf, and Jordan was at a baseball game with a friend. Connor texted Jordan, inviting her to join him, and though she was nervous (she had never played frisbee golf before!), she agreed. We had an amazing time, and then capped off the evening with a very romantic dinner at McDonald's. The dates only got better from there, and we spent one of the best summers together. As fall approached, we faced the tough decision of whether to continue dating while Connor went off to Loras College. Ultimately, we decided to break up, but we stayed in touch, texting every day and meeting up whenever we could. When Connor came back for Thanksgiving break, we realized we couldn’t imagine life without each other, and we decided to give our relationship another shot. The following year, Jordan started at Clarke University and joined Connor in Dubuque. Our college years were filled with unforgettable memories, even living as neighbors on Arlington Street for a time. We will always cherish the friendships we made and the time we spent in Iowa. As graduation approached, Jordan had one more semester left and lived with Brennan, Connor's brother, while Connor headed back to Woodstock to start his career at Medline. A year later, Connor moved to Milwaukee, and Jordan stayed at home with her mom. Despite the distance, we kept our tradition alive with weekly date nights every Tuesday for two years, meeting in Kenosha or Lake Geneva. Jordan also visited Milwaukee on weekends. In June 2024, Jordan decided to make the move to Milwaukee to be closer to Connor and the friends we had made in the city. Now, we’re fully embracing life in Milwaukee—playing beach volleyball, trying new restaurants and bars, and soaking up as many concerts and sporting events as we can. We’re excited for what the future holds, knowing that the best is yet to come.
