How We Met

2012

McKenzie and Tanner met in high school through a couple of mutual friends and would all occasionally go out for lunch together. Tanner made the first move and asked for McKenzie's number when Tanner was a junior and McKenzie was a senior. Not long after, they went on their first date to Cold Stone Creamery after the Homecoming bond fire. Tanner and McKenzie’s relationship has been able to remain strong through the years, even though much of it has been spent long distance. By the time the two tie the knot, they will be together for almost 9 years.

The Proposal

2019

There was never a traditional proposal (we like to joke that Tanner got off easy). The day Tanner bought the ring was completely unplanned and a spur of the moment decision. Tanner and McKenzie traveled to Kansas City to attend a friend's wedding and had a couple hours to spend before their flight home to Denver. They decided to spend their day at a nearby mall before heading to the airport. McKenzie convinced Tanner to look at rings since the two had already been talking about taking the next step toward marriage. McKenzie happened to fall in love with a ring, but the two had less than an hour before needing to head to the airport. Over a quick beer, the two made the decision to get the ring and were able to fly home with it that day!
