A beautiful love story ordained by God!
It’s September 2022, I’m spending my final days in Atlanta before moving to Kansas City, Missouri and I get a notification, someone followed me on Instagram. I clicked on the notification and it said Q. DéShaun. I was like who is this? Woo he fine! (it’s the melanin and the beard for me!😍) I noticed his profile said he lives in Kansas City and I got excited! I also noticed he was gainfully employed! So of course, I followed him back. A few weeks later, I moved to KC, start a new job and for two months, we both were watching each other stories, creeping on each other’s pages. I kept thinking soooooo he’s gonna follow me but not slide in my DM’s? So on November 21, 2022, bae re-posted a really funny video on his instagram story from Viola Davis where multiple organs are arguing about which organ is the most important organ in the body. I’m a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan so I watched the video several times, laughing because it's hilarious! So I shoot my shot! I sent this laughing emoji reaction => 😂 to his IG stories. I was hoping he would know that emoji was me shooting my shot. Lol 😆 He responded, taking the lead and that’s how the convo between us started. Our first date was Jan. 7th of 2023. On the way to the date, I prayed. I said God it’s me again! If this is my husband, give me clarity and confirmation early and help me to discern if it’s not, I don’t want to waste my time. For our first date, we went to brunch at Gram & Dun. Our date lasted four hours. Quinton was so charming and funny! It was like we had known each other for years. Honestly I could’ve chatted longer, it felt like only an hour had gone by. We had a really great first date! During that conversation, we talk about everything, including our individual relationship with God but somehow we hadn’t discussed where we both were attending church at the time. So the next day after our first date, bae text me saying he really enjoyed our date, he was running late for church and would call me after. I said I’m running late for church too, talk soon! Why did we pull up into the church parking lot at the same time directly across from each other. We got out the car and just laughed. So our second date was an impromptu church service, together. We sat next to each other in church and worshiped God together and then went to brunch. Our second date was not a coincidence. I knew that was confirmation and clarity from God that Quinton was my husband! This love was orchestrated and ordained by God and I was really excited for our future together. On our third date, he told me his childhood friend, Jessica Fletcher sent him my picture back in September 2022 and told him I was moving to KC and that’s how he found me on Instagram. By the end of the month, bae asked me to be his girlfriend and nine months later he asked me to be his wife.
I thank God for ordering my steps to meet my love, Kristen! Kristen and I met through one of my childhood friends, Jessica Fletcher. We've known each other since we were 9-years-old. In September 2022, Jessica was randomly scrolling on her Instagram explore page and noticed a post from Kristen and shared it with me. It’s important to provide some additional context here. At this time Kristen nor Jessica knew each other, and neither was aware of any mutual friends that they may have. At this time, I was in my last year of my gastroenterology fellowship program in Kansas City. Honestly, I was eager to leave Kansas City after I finished my training which would've been seven months later. I had been in Kansas City for almost three years at this point and the dating scene in KC was tragic. I had given up on dating in Kansas City, and I felt that I needed a change in scenery. I was actively on the hunt of a job post-fellowship and an amazing job opportunity became available, but it was in…Kansas City. I struggled with the idea of staying in Kansas City longer, but God gave me the affirmation I needed to sign the contract with the hospital in Kansas City. I took a leap of faith knowing that somehow, someway, I would meet the love of my life, in Kansas City. Literally the same week after I signed my contact with the hospital to stay in Kansas City, I received that message from Jessica telling me about Kristen! Isn’t that wild!? Let’s get back to the post! In the IG post, Kristen announced that she accepted a job in Kansas City. Jessica screen-shot Kristen’s post and sent it to me. I looked at Kristen’s picture and my jaw hit the floor lol because I'm in utter amazement and captivated by all of her beauty! I ask Jessica, “Do you know-her-know-her?”. Jessica said, “Nope. God just brought her across my timeline so I could bring her to your attention.” At this point, I am still lost for words. Lol So I scroll through Kristen’s entire IG page and I am even more intrigued. However, I was thinking... maybe I shouldn’t shoot my shot yet, she is moving to a new city, new job, etc. So, I didn’t message her, but I followed her on IG and she followed me back and then several months pass. A few months later, I see this funny story on IG and I shared it to my IG story, and Kristen “laughed” at the post! I was like “Oh yeah, she’s interested. Lol”. I will forever stand by the fact that bae slid in my DM, lol! But I sent a follow up message to Kristen, and we been talking every day since! We then went on our first date January 2023, to one of my favorite restaurants, Gram & Dun. First impression of Kristen in-person, WOW (insert heart eyes here, haha!) The date got off to a rocky start, because literally the second comment/question I asked her on the date was, “Yeah, the food here is great, speaking of, can you cook?” Kristen then looks at me as if I just offended her. LOL! Hey, don’t judge me. (I can cook for myself too for those still casting judgement, ha). But when you move with intentionally, your questions are different. We spent the next 4 hours getting to know each other and laughing. Our date lasted over 4 hours long, but it felt like 30 mins had passed. I knew after the first date that Kristen was the one for me. Kristen has always felt like Home to me. God had made it very clear to me that she is my helpmate, my love, and my life partner on this side of heaven. I moved accordingly and asked her to be my girlfriend after 3 weeks, then asked her to be my wife 9 months later!
