COVID-19 updates

While we’d love to celebrate in person with all our loved ones, we’ve reduced our guest list to accommodate a small group of family and close friends. For those who cannot attend in person, visit our website on December 5 to celebrate with us via live stream! If you want email reminders for the live stream, send us an email at kateyandryanoutka@gmail.com and we'll add you to the list. For those attending in person, here are the current precautions in place as of December 2020: -Our guest list is around 20% of the venue’s total capacity to allow for maximum distancing. -The majority of all wedding activities (ceremony and reception) will be outdoors. -Assigned seating will be in place during the ceremony with adequate spacing between guests. -Reception seating will also be assigned, and tables will be spaced out throughout the venue to allow for distance so you can eat and drink comfortably. -Face coverings are required when not eating or drinking, and when guests are within 6 feet of other guests not within their household. If you don’t have a mask, we’ll provide one for you. -All food and drink will be served by catering staff on disposable dinnerware & drinkware. -Hand sanitizer will be placed throughout the venue for guests to use. We're closely listening to the advice of health officials. We understand your decision to attend or celebrate from afar, but please know we'll do everything we can to make our intimate outdoor celebration as safe as possible for everyone attending. We'll also make sure to keep our website updated as the situation evolves.

How We Met

February 1, 2018

In January 2018, Ryan had a plan: He wanted a girlfriend. He called up friends to help him take photos for his dating profile—it was time to start swiping. Katey also had a plan: She did not want a boyfriend. But she had one more guy texting her to meet up. On Feb. 1, Ryan was waiting for her outside of Fresa's, and Katey’s first thought when she saw him was, “This guy is too good-looking—he’s going to be a jerk.” As you all know, he was exactly the opposite. The next two years were full of all the things you know Ryan and Katey for: Overfilling their schedules with weekend trips to Port Aransas, Marfa, Denver, and beyond, trying breweries and restaurants across Austin, early morning workouts, rewatching the Harry Potter movies, music festivals, concerts, dancing in the living room, and lots of Oso cuddles.

The Proposal

December 26, 2019

Ryan had arranged for his parents to come to Port Aransas from New Mexico for Christmas, and the plan was for him and Katey to meet them down there after spending Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with her family. What she didn’t know is that he had a big surprise waiting for her the day after Christmas when they went for a walk on the beach with Oso and Ryan got down on one knee. (Okay, it wasn’t a huge surprise — neither Ryan nor Katey are exactly subtle.) Katey’s dad and best friend were waiting back at the condo after the big moment, and both families spent the night playing dominoes and drinking Modelos in celebration.
