Our Sweetest Testimony

As two young kids in love, we were faced with a common clishe and terrible truism: the right thing at the wrong time is a wrong thing. To our dismay, Joshua Harris was certainly onto something. Fully convinced that we had irrevocably ruined a good thing and in unintentional disregard to God’s abounding Grace and Goodness, we went a long time trying to figure things out for ourselves. Fast forward about 5 years and what we didn’t dare speak out loud, God began speaking to us in private. That inkling we had as kids became a full-fledged conviction. The Perfect Orchestrator of all things had soon after deemed it the right time and RE-deemed our relationship. The conviction that we carry of God’s hand in our love and lives is irrefutable. We joyfully take this next step into marriage confidently knowing that God has already been there and will lead the way.

Why the Tag

You’re likely wondering why our wedding hashtag is #TheOtherSide. Isaac and I had spoken about marriage several times before the proposal. We knew we both wanted to take that step together but were often overwhelmed with what we perceived to be prerequisites to marriage itself. I suppose you could say that we were fearful of not getting it perfectly right. Fast forward several months. Isaac received a batch of letters from me for his 22nd birthday. Each of these letters was marked with a specific occasion for which he should open and read them. One of the letters was marked to have only been read in the event that he was feeling fearful. In this letter I roughly referenced something Will Smith had said: the best things in life are on the other side of fear. On April 13th, Isaac sat me down next to a waterfall at the Water Lantern Festival. We reminisced on the suddenness and unraveling of our love and reflected on how far we’d come. He turned to me and said: “Someone once told me that the best things in life are on the other side of fear. I want to see what’s on the other side for us” He got down on his knee, proposed, and I said yes. Now we look forward to #TheOtherSide
