Have you ever heard of the invisible string theory? It suggests that people who are meant to be in each other’s lives are connected by an invisible thread, no matter the time, place, or circumstance. Owen and I met when we were just kids. We were “friends,” although acquaintances is probably a better word. We saw each other here and there; after all, we grew up just a town apart. One of those times, we both happened to be at Holland State Park on the same night. We caught up for a short while, and before we knew it, we started hanging out. Not long after, we were dating, and soon I was off to Florida, where we did long distance for five years. It’s funny how small moments and past experiences led to our relationship, to getting engaged, and now to spending our lives together. Even though we didn’t know it at the time, everything was quietly guiding us toward each other. Looking back, it’s hard not to feel like everything was leading us here. Every moment apart and every twist of timing. What once felt like a coincidence now shows us it was God’s timing. We couldn’t be more excited to begin forever together.
