On January 19th, 2019, Ayo decided to go to a lounge called Max Fish in the Lower East Side, NY with his friend Tolu. Ru and her girls, Stephanie & De'Linda had also planned to go there that night with a few of their guy friends. As soon as Ru arrived to the lounge, she caught Ayo’s attention. He told Tolu that he had a goal to get her number before the night ended. Overtime, he finally approached her and asked her "which one of these guys is your boyfriend?" She laughed and responded, "none of them". They proceeded to have a conversation learning about each other for some time. He then asked for her number but she questioned his intentions. The DJ changed the music and Ru started dancing interrupting the conversation. This happened about 3 times until Ayo finally grew impatient. Ayo then said "Are you going to give me your number or not, because I got church in the morning". Ru did not believe Ayo and asked where he attended church. Ayo named his church, ALCC in Brooklyn, and coincidentally, it was the same church that Ru attended. They exchanged the church’s word for year and they laughed at the crazy coincidence. This was the game changer for the both of them. Finally, Ru decided that it was worth it to give him her number. They talked and texted each other for a few days, had their first date about a week later, and the rest is history!
