In June of 2017, Caroline and Ted matched on JSwipe. Caroline, not being so sure about meeting people online, was immediately put at ease when Ted decided to open the conversation with an easy in: German Shepherds. After a weekend of chatting and talking on the phone, Ted invited Caroline out on a date. What began as a simple dinner date (it was a Tuesday night), turned into them being the last table still at the restaurant at closing. Not wanting the evening to end, they took a walk to a nearby frozen yogurt place for dessert, and finished off the night with a walk to the park. While walking Caroline to the car after what turned into a 4 hour 1st date (and Caroline’s 1st ever date from online), Ted confidently told her that he was deleting his Jswipe profile because “I’m going to marry you”. Caroline didn’t really believe him at the time, but he certainly was right!

Ted knew that he would have to pull out all the stops to plan a proposal that Caroline wouldn’t see coming. She was told that there was a very formal Legacy Donor’s Gala in honor of Teddy’s grandparents (A”H), at the Gene Autry Museum. Ted played it off as a stuffy formal event that he wouldn’t have the time to leave his law school studies for the weekend and drive to Los Angeles for. Since Caroline was convinced that they weren’t going to the event, she let weeks fly by without thinking much of it. All of a sudden, a handful of days before the Legacy Donor’s Gala, Caroline “convinced” Teddy that in honor of his grandparents, they should attend. So off they went, dressed to the nines, to attend the event. Ted and Caroline walked into the Autry Museum and were greeted by security who told them how to reach the ‘gala’. Their directions led to the private garden outside which had been completely and wonderfully decorated with flower arrangements, candles, and champagne. From that moment on it was basically a blur, but Caroline watched Teddy get down on one knee and propose as their favorite song played over speakers. Caroline cried, Ted laughed, and they celebrated with close family and friends.
