Flight
Any of the three airports are great options! LaGuardia (LGA) is a short taxi ride in but is a bit tougher for public transit and longer direct flights won't go here. If you are coming from the West Coast you will very likely be flying to/from John F. Kennedy (JFK) or Newark (EWR) (or both! We often leave from one and come back to another, and sometimes on different airlines). Both JFK and EWR have great transit options and taxis or Uber/Lyft are an option though a little pricier. Airport to Midtown Manhattan: EWR - Airtrain to NJ transit (all one ticket $15.75, buy on app or kiosk) which runs right to New York Penn Station in Manhattan. Google maps can work but often does not show this option in our experience so heads up. Taxis to and from EWR are not a fixed rate but you should get a quoted priced at the airport (expect ~$65). Uber/Lyft also work but can be harder to locate at the airport. JFK - Airtrain ($8.25, tap credit/debit card to pay) to subway ($2.90) or LIRR (~$8, buy on app or kiosk). There are 2 different stations and multiple trains which work and google maps does a great job here. Taxis to and from JFK are a fixed rate to and from Manhattan for $75 but with fees and tolls and tip expect about $95. Uber/Lyft also work but can be harder to locate at the airport. LGA - Q70 bus (free) or M60 bus (regular fare, tap credit/debit card to pay) to connect to the subway (tap credit/debit card to pay). Taxi prices vary with traffic and destination but are ~$45. Uber/Lyft also work but can be harder to locate at the airport.
Travel Note
The subway is a great way to get around NYC and is often nearby if you're in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Google Maps will tell you which lines to take if you select transit as the mode option, or may give you a bus option. The subway and buses are $2.90 to and from most places with one free transfer. You only need to tap your debit/credit card to pay and transfers are handled automatically (you won't be charged a second time). Hailing a cab is also easy and quick to do from most places in Manhattan. Cab prices are similar to Uber/Lyft prices. Uber and Lyft also work well if you prefer booking your ride. Despite their reputation, New Yorkers are also very helpful so don't be afraid to ask and they even might offer if you are looking lost (then scurry off immediately).
Travel Note
We have room blocks at two hotels for ease of booking your stay, but please feel free to book wherever you would like! NYC has abundant hotels to choose from depending on the price and style you're looking for. Midtown, where the hotel blocks are, is very central and has the most hotels. It's right in between the weekend's welcome party and wedding, and being near Penn Station is a hub for transit so its great for travelers and accessing all parts of the city. Lower Manhattan is a fun place to stay that is close to many NYC sites in the Financial District, Brooklyn, and iconic neighborhoods like Lower East Side and SoHo. AirBNB policy in the city is a 30 day or more stay.
