Patrick and Emily have been together for seven years but their story began much earlier. They met in the fall of 2010 on the first day of 6th grade. Unknown to both of them, they were immediately smitten. They grew up just one street away from each other, and the years of school that followed their meeting were full of bus rides sitting together, passing glances in the hallway, and whispers to their friends about the other. High school came along, and Patrick and Emily fell out of touch, each persuing different tracks for college prep. They began to date other people, as teenagers do, but would often reflect on their first love: with each other. Patrick and Emily reconnected in 2018 as sophomores in college at Florida International Univeristy. Patrick was pledging Theta Chi fraternity and Emily was a proud sister of Alpha Chi Omega. Remembering their childhood crush, they began to make themselves more available to each organizations' events: pageants, tailgates, and fundraisers were soon full of the same excitement they felt back in middle school. It took three dates to know they had found The One. Seven years later of greek life events (and titles), vacations together, degrees, a global pandemic, starting careers, living together, two cats, and now engagement has shown them that sometimes love doesn't have to travel far to find you.
