The falls are a really popular spot on weekends in the summer. There's also a network of hiking trails, for a total hiking distance of about 5 miles.
Sandy Beach is nice place on a hot day. To get there, turn off on Sandy Beach Road and follow the signs for Sandy Beach. There's a parking lot and that's where you will want to park if you aren't putting in a boat. The beach is just down from the handicap-accessible picnic shelter. We love going out in the evening, when the sand is still hot from the sun, but the sun has gone down behind the cliff. The water will be a bit on the icy side this time of year, but its still a great spot. If you go earlier in the day, you can stop by Sloane's on the way home for ice cream - just turn off at the Post office turn and stop at the convenience store there - that's Sloane's! The flavors change all the time, but Meghan really liked the Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream last time she went!
If you would like to catch the Rodeo while you are in town, the action starts Sunday night and goes to the following weekend.
This is a great local restaurant for breakfast. They open at 6am, and close at 2pm. Some of our favorites are their biscuits and gravy, their Greek Benedict, and the Blueberry Muffin French toast is pretty fabulous, too! They don't take reservations, but if you call ahead, sometimes they'll put you on the list while you're on the way :)
This used to be the Cheese Barrel, but it's still a local favorite. Peter's favorites are the Monte Cristo, and their Jalapeno Popper Sandwich!
