Despite growing up less than 2 miles from each other, they didn't meet until 2013. Keanna was in search of a new church home after graduating from college and Aikins just happened to be in the right place at the right time. At the urging of an old elementary school friend, Keanna began attending Calvary Gospel Church periodically throughout that summer. Not knowing when he'd see her again and not being one to let an opportunity pass him by, Aikins approached Keanna and asked for her number after service on a hot Sunday afternoon in July (you know, for prayer meetings and other church happenings...). The two became fast friends over the next few years and made it official almost exactly 2 years later in 2015.
Aikins chose to surprise Keanna by recreating one of her favorite days from their first trip together in Florida. The day started off with breakfast at Keke's Breakfast Cafe and was followed by a stroll through the mall to peruse, shop and take photos in the booth at Urban Outfitters. After a short nap it was time to head to PF Changs for dinner. Dinner was great and dessert was even better. After paying for the meal, Aikins disappeared presumably to find a bathroom. He came back a short while later followed by a manager holding a dinner plate just above eye level. After some small talk with the manager, he put the plate down. Expecting a complementary dessert, Keanna was surprised. On the plate were 3 hand painted magnets Aikins had made and given to Keanna after their first trip. Noticing her confusion, Aikins stepped in. He began by singing the song he had played throughout the weekend, Aje by DMW. After a few sweet words he went down on one knee and popped the question. She said "YES!" and the restaurant erupted in applause.
