Question

Her Version

Answer

Eddie and I met in November 2022 on a little dating app called Hinge. One day, as I scrolled through my new messages, one in particular caught my attention. It was a whole literary thesis. A scholarly excerpt, if you will, from a man simply named "E". I was intrigued so, I replied. Eddie and I hit it off immediately, and we have been inseparable since that day that we matched. At that time Eddie was living in North Carolina, and I lived in Maryland. We spoke on the phone every day for hours, late into the night. After a few weeks of this, we decided to go on our first date. The chemistry was just as strong in person as it was over the phone. We laughed and talked for hours, but I told him I wasn’t looking for anything serious. So, we agreed to be friends, and he drove back to North Carolina after our date. A couple days later, Eddie told me he’d love to see me again. I said “Sure! When next will you be in Maryland?” He said he’d drive back to Maryland that same weekend just to take me on a second date. I laughed. “So, you’d drive all the way to Maryland on back-to-back weekends just to see me?” I asked. “Absolutely,” he responded. And that’s exactly what he did. We continued to talk and FaceTime for the weeks that followed. Eddie then invited me to visit him in NC at the end of January. He booked a hotel room for me and thoughtfully planned out the weekend with fun activities for us to do. As I sat in Raleigh airport waiting to board my flight back to Maryland, I found myself not wanting to leave. Two weeks later I agreed to be his girlfriend. Sixteen months after that I agreed to be his wife. Eddie is so much more than just an answered prayer. He's my life's perfect partner, my soul's most trusted companion, and the most amazing human I have ever met. I am in awe of him. Every room feels brighter as soon as he enters it, and my life has been no different. I love you so deeply, Eddie. Now let's get married!

Question

His Version

Answer

Ijeoma and I met in the fall of 2022, during what was supposed to be just a quick trip for me to the University of Maryland to submit paperwork and interview for my doctoral program. But what started as an academic journey quickly turned into something far more meaningful. We connected through online dating—an ordinary swipe that turned out to be the most “right” decision I’ve ever made. At the time, I had no idea that one click would lead me to the love of my life. Over the next four months, we truly got to know each other. Between countless phone calls, dates, and long road trips from North Carolina to Maryland, we slowly built a foundation of trust, laughter, and shared dreams. It wasn’t always easy—there were moments of hesitation, plenty of NOs, and the natural fear that comes with vulnerability. But all of that faded on February 5, 2023, at exactly 16:48 hours, when she finally said yes to dating me, and possibly building a life together. That moment is etched in my heart forever. I never imagined someone would inspire me to move from North Carolina to Virginia, especially when I had grown comfortable where I was. Yet for her, and for what we were building, I took the leap. It wasn’t an easy decision, but looking back, it was another “right” move. What felt like a risk at the time turned out to be a blessing in disguise—one that brought us even closer and allowed our relationship to grow in ways I never anticipated. Then came June 1, 2024—our engagement. It was everything I dreamed of and more, a beautiful affirmation of the love we share and the future we’re building. Through every season of our journey, Ijeoma has shown me what love, patience, and partnership truly mean. As the saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together.” I’m grateful every day that she chose me, and I promise to keep choosing her —on the good days, the bad ones, and every ordinary moment in between.
