When Dani and I met, I didn't believe much in fate or that there was any rhyme or reason to things. Simply that stuff happens, and we chose how to react. I wasn't even super religious either. Also, this night was literally a random Monday, wasn't a holiday or special event. In all honesty, this was a Monday on Mill Avenue in Tempe, it was completely dead. I was still full swing into my football career at ASU. I almost never partied or really did much of anything outside of school, football, and the occasional party. My buddies from the team convinced me to go out with them on that evening. We went to "Tavern" which is a local bar that had $1 drink nights. My friends were planning on getting litty and I was going to be their DD. As we are sitting there having a good time playing pool, there were two girls sitting at the bar that my boys would not shut up about. They wanted to talk to them but were too chicken to talk to them themselves. Being the obnoxious individual and great wingman that I am, I talked to them. I overhear the girls ordering an uber to Mill, which was literally a mile down the road. I offered to drive them. I was like "hey guys, we're drinking anyways, and you want to all hang out so let’s just drive them to mill" We head over to Mill and go to CASA where there is a decent line outside. As I was probably 20 yards away, I saw this SMOKING blonde. I SWEAR she was glowing. There was so much energy about this woman. I slapped my boys "Blonde, dibs!" I shake her hand and at first, I thought this guy following her around was her boyfriend, but she kept eye balling me. I pulled her aside and asked if that was her boyfriend and she, in her sassy voice said, "oh my god, NO” The rest was history. Took her on a date the very next day and the next day. She stayed at my house and we moved into our own apartment 6 months later. We have spent everyday together since. Now, I get to MARRY that SMOKING blonde from that night. Pretty cool how things work out.
It was 8 pm on a monday night. I was at the gym with my little sister Katie when I got an instagram message from an old friend inviting me to go out to Mill Ave that night. She had just graduated college and wanted to celebrate. I really didn't want to go but my little sister convinced me to go have fun, why not? I swore off all men at this point and I told myself I was just going to go and hang out with my friends, no boys allowed. I was standing in line to get into CASA, one of my favorite bars at the time, wearing a t-shirt and jeans and practically no makeup. I wasn't there to impress, just to hang out with my friends. Plus, it was monday night, no one special is going to be here. I realize now how God pushed me into that bar that day, and how wrong I was because my life was about to change. My friend started introducing me to her friends, who had a group of boys with them. One by one the boys shook my hand introducing themselves. I thought nothing of it until the last boy introduced himself to me as Marshal. The first thing I noticed were his deep green, kind eyes, then his tattoos and muscles (of course). I immediately thought, "Dang it, I want him to talk to me". I tried to throw that thought out but it stuck around. I couldn't help but to stare. It was like a gravitational pull was drawing us together that night and when we finally started talking, it was like a switch flipped. We were talking like we knew each other our whole lives. We exchanged numbers and hung out everyday since. I didn't know it at the time, but he came into my life at the perfect moment. He saved me from myself and my soul knew the moment we met, we were meant to be.
