How We Met (Jaclyn's Version)

Starbucks in Santa Barbara, 2010. I was working behind the bar and this curly haired, southern California, surfer boy comes strolling in the door, disheveled, for an interview. I set my eyes on him immediately and looked to my two friends/co-workers and literally said "dibs". So, I guess you could say it was at least lust at first sight. ;) After our first few conversations, my infatuation grew, but of course I played it cool (in my mind). We learned everything about each other in our first few weeks of knowing each other. Jesse had just gotten out of a complicated relationship and was not looking to date anytime soon. So, I had to wait, but in the mean time, I gained a best friend. We told each other about the moments in our lives that shaped us and bonded over tremendous loss. Jesse actually ended up moving in with me and some friends after only knowing each other for about 2 months. I was so hesitant (because of my true feelings), but everyone loved him and veto'd my vote. He moved in, and no joke - we started dating that week, shared our first kiss and I inevitably became Nesta's mom. The rest, as they say, is history.

How We Met (Jesse's Version)

When I started working as a barista at Starbucks in downtown Santa Barbara, I never expected to meet the girl I was going to marry. The first things that stood out to me about Jaclyn were her beautiful eyes and the brilliant smile spread across her face at all times. Not only that, but her positive attitude was infectious and being with her just felt... right. We spent all of our time together and quickly became best friends, but had not yet started dating. In the beginning, I remember sitting together for hours listening to music, going to concerts, and attending the occasional party in Isla Vista. After a few months of hanging out 24/7. we were both looking for a new place at the same time, and decided to move in together, to a house close to downtown Santa Barbara - white picket fence and all. Being a barista in Santa Barbara doesn't come with the largest salary, so we decided to be roommates to save a bit on rent. Needless to say, I quickly realized that I wanted us to be more than just friends, and the rest is history!
