Our Original Wedding Day

Despite canceling our original wedding plans due to the pandemic, we still decided to tie the knot on May 24, 2020. A huge Thank You to Carol (Emma's grandma) for officiating our big day and to the Wacksman's for our socially distanced wedding party. Although we are officially Mr and Mrs, we're looking forward to getting together to celebrate on June 6, 2021.

How We Met

Mark and Emma met on St. Patrick's Day (the luckiest day of the year) through a mutual friend, Jon (thank you Jon!). Mark almost decided not to join the festivities that day because he was under the weather, but decided to join his friends at the last second. If it weren't for his decision to join that day, the two might have never crossed paths. Although the two didn't have each other's phone numbers, Mark later connected with Emma via. Facebook (which speaks volumes since Mark seldom uses that platform). Emma was so happy to hear from him because she felt an instant connection with him the day they met. Mark and Emma have been inseparable since March 17, 2013 and are excited to explore life together.

The Proposal

Through Emma's Eyes

This is such a special story because of all the thought Mark put into the proposal. First, he asked my dad for my hand in marriage and met with both parents to discuss his plans to propose to me in Japan. One morning in Tokyo, Mark said "I have a surprise for you today!". At that moment I was so excited but had no idea that he was about to ask me to marry him! Although we were both unfamiliar with the city, Mark navigated our way through Tokyo to propose to me at Okunitama Jinjya (shrine) in Fuchu, Japan. This place holds a lot of significance in my family as it is where my parents had their wedding ceremony, the city I was born in and it is where I was blessed as a baby. Little did I know of all these details until Mark started sharing all of this with me leading up to the big question (he even had photos to go along with it!)! This was such an incredible day and I'm forever grateful for all of the thought Mark put into making it unforgettable.
