Although unknowingly crossing paths a couple times before, we actually met one night at a mutual friend's birthday party. We hung out all night, but it was not love at first sight. I was not very interested in anything more after the party, thinking he was a player and talked to girls at every party he went to. However, Keis was very persistent and over time, won me over. Eventually, we had our first date and a few months after that, became an official couple on June 2, 2014. The rest was history. Now, six years later, in perfect timing, we are engaged and so excited for this next chapter together!

On this day moments before the proposal I was in the shower thinking to myself "how am I going to ask her?", "what am I going to say"? Everyone was in the living room at the time and only my mom and sister knew that I was going to pop the question. Once I finally got dressed, I stayed in the bathroom a little longer, practicing how to take that knee and pull the ring box out of my pocket. I must have practiced at least three or four times. When I finally built up the courage, I walked out into the living room, in front of everyone, and asked Akayla if I could talk to her for a second... Keis is not the type of man to get nervous and show it, so when he grabbed my hands and his were shaking, I knew it was the moment...When he looked into my eyes and started saying all these sweet things, I went numb with happiness. Next thing I knew he was telling me how much he loves me, and how he would love me for the rest of his life...then came the tears. He got down on one knee, opened the ring box and I lost it, feeling, in that moment, that my dream was coming true. I could barely even stand! In front of my closest family, at my Nana's house, I got engaged to the love of my life.
